Crammond Island

Right by our hostel in Edinburgh there is the firth (ocean inlet) of forth, the tide in the firth goes in and out twice a day allowing you to cross to Crammond island. The island was used as some sort of military mini base back during the war times so it's covered in all these old army buildings from the good old days and it's generally an interesting place to check out, so i did.

Here is the way over to the island at low tide, you can see one of the buildings on the hill where i recreated some war scenes with sound effects and all.

Here's some lookout bunker thingoes keeping an eye over the firth
We made some interesting discoveries around the island including these fungi and............
A Dolphin (or whatever) that was on the beach, don't know how it died but i'll put up a nicer picture without any yucky bits. Its' flippers were gone and it was a bit pecked on the other side.
One last picture of the island looking out to the firth bridges, one of them is a scaled down replica of the golden gate bridge, you can see it if you look in the middle.
Quite an interesting place to go and see.
To top the day off we (4 of us from the hostel) went ten pin bowling and i don't need to tell you who won now do I?? :p
Todays' lesson is: if you do come to Edinburgh make sure you go over to Crammond island and take a look at the bits and pieces.

hi there, i came across your blog when looking up info about Crammond Island. I had to laugh at your comment about the Forth rail bridge being a scaled down 'replica' of the golden gate bridge. In actual fact, the bridge in your picture was completed in 1890 (about 50 years before the GGB) and was the worlds first major steel bridge. :)

LEDs, first developed in the early 1960s, produce light by
moving electrons through a semiconductor. Implementation
of solar energy has environmental costs that may hamper its application on large-scale
operations to reduce its impact. There's a color screen option which works the same way as the light bulb but has less of a harsh glare.
